Ethan Herx is an award-winning Ohio-based photojournalist, concert photographer, and freelance journalist. He is a third year photojournalism student at Ohio University. He is the Director of Photography and occasional writer with The Post in Athens, Ohio. He is also a photo intern with Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio. In May, he will be going to New Mexico to work with New Mexico River Adventures.
He is formerly a photographer and writer with Keynote Music Collective and Ultraviolet Music Magazine.
Ethan has photographed and worked with hundreds of bands and five music festivals to-date along with dozens of other events. He has also interviewed a Grammy-winning musician, a contestant of The Voice, filmmakers, Pulitzer Prize nominees and more. As a photographer with The Post, he has covered breaking news, elections, protests, sports, events, among many other daily assignments. As a writer with The Post and independently, Ethan has focused on environmental issues, outdoor recreation, Appalachian culture, music, and arts, writing over 130 articles and opinion columns.
In April 2025, Ethan received the Mark of Excellence award from the Society of Professional Journalists in the category of breaking news photography.
