About Me

Hello! My name is Ethan Herx, and I am a photojournalist, concert photographer, and writer from Cleveland and currently based in Athens, Ohio, but work across northeast, central, and southeast Ohio. I am currently a junior studying Photojournalism at Ohio University, with a minor in Outdoor Recreation and Education.

I am currently a photographer and writer for The Post in Athens, Ohio, a Senior Photographer with Keynote Music Collective, and a photography intern with Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio. With Keynote, I have photographed artists and events such as Nelsonville Music Festival, From Ashes to New, Courtney Barnett, Indigo De Souza, and more in the position of Senior Photographer and writer. For The Post, I not only am a part of the photography team and have been featured on multiple front covers of our print edition, but I am also a culture/human interest writer as well as an opinion columnist, currently having written 45+ articles and columns with more to come, most focusing on local music, Appalachian culture, and the outdoors.

In my time with The Post and KMC, I have had the opportunity to interview 4x Grammy award winning musician Sarah Jarosz, The Ballroom Thieves, Pulitzer prize nominated photographer Johnny Crawford, filmmaking couple Studio Ragheb, and climbing podcast host and film festival director Kathy Karlo, among many others.

In March of 2025, I began work as a photography intern for Stuart’s Opera House, covering concerts and events as needed. Because of this position, I was one of the house photographers for the 2025 Nelsonville Music Festival, photographing artists such as Waxahatchee, Charley Crockett, Taj Mahal, The War and Treaty and more. I also worked on photos around the festival to be used for social media and marketing. In September of this year I will also be shooting at the Happy Hollow Hootenanny put on by Stuart’s.

To date, I have photographed, interviewed, and did video for over 100 bands and musicians, and of those the artists have amassed a total of 9 Grammy Award wins and 23 nominations, with countless other award wins and nominations.
